Match 27 – The ANZAC competition in India

Our Good, Bad and Wholesome Ten Moments

M27-05

This is the thriller we all needed!

Rachin Ravindra and James Neesham specials meant it came down to six needed off the final ball for New Zealand, with No. 11 on strike - Australia then closed it out

M27-11

10

Starc’s catches

A very important catch in the match, he lengthens the body to dismiss one of the most explosive openers in the game. Followed by another one of Will Young and again Daryl Mitchell, Starc was everywhere!

7.2 taken superbly by Starc at short fine leg! Back of a length delivery on leg stump and that ought to have been put away. Conway swings at it and hits it towards short fine. Starc flings himself to his right and plucks it out of thin air. Conway is livid with himself, but Australia have the breakthrough they were after!

M27-38

9

New Zealand dropped two catches

Daryl Mitchell dropping Marnus. Santner dropping Head.

8

The Warner Consistency

Warner is consistently performing, he got a very useful 77.

7

Glenn Philips

How does Glenn manage to get wickets in the most unexpected stages? He got two batsmen out, who did the most damage – Warner and Head.

M27-27

6

New Zealand almost got on nerves

Starc could have very easily been the villain for Australia. New Zealand needed 43 off 18 balls with two wickets in hand. Starc and Josh Hazlewood missed their marks.

M27-19

5

Zampa

Zampa is slowly coming back into form, he gave away 74 runs but got three important wickets – Mitchell, Latham, Santner.

4

Inglis + Maxi + Cummins

What crazy partnerships these were; by the time they walked in, the team was at 274-5 in 38 overs. Inflight got hitting very early along with Maxi – he even tonked one to the roof!

They played a team-effort game, just pushing the scoreboard to 388!

Inglis – 38(28)
Maxi – 41 (24)
Cummins – 37 (14), that has to be his best SR so far!

M27-06

3

Neesham’s Cameo

Neesham Cameo, Last, over thriller, they needed 7 off 2, he could have hit a six 6. Lockie couldn’t; it was a tough one to watch again, especially when you see

There was one six off Starc that just reminded me of the great Zulu Lance Klusener, who hit strong and hard towards long on.

It was all happening, 23 from 9 and Neesham was on fire!

That run out, the pressure during these moments, NZ just cracked, it was so close we would’ve loved to see Neesham hit a six off the last ball!

2

Rachin’s 2nd hundred

Rachin’s 2nd WC 100 (116 off 89), he did it against Australia!

We were expecting his partner Devon Conway to fire again, but after that first match, things haven’t panned out that well, he just got an okay 28(17)

He hits a SIX to get his hundred, the boldness of this guy!

That misfired shot was a tragedy, I thought he was going to take it home. Marnus catches a comfortable one.

M27-37

1

Travis Head!

He just arrived and announced it by hitting a century; you can’t get more badass than that! The pitch or the break didn’t seem to deter him. Santner almost got him caught and bowled, but he looked like his aggressive self playing that role.
