Match 17 – India eases through another win!

Our Good, Bad and Wholesome Five Moments

M17-11

India 261 for 3 (Kohli 103*, Gill 53, Rohit 48) beat Bangladesh 256 for 8 (Litton 66, Tanzid 51, Mahmudullah 46, Jadeja 2-38, Bumrah 2-41) by seven wickets Bangladesh tried without their captain but they fell short, their total 256 was not enough to challenge the chasing specialists.

Pandya’s injury

In between that, India had a jolt with Hardik Pandya hobbling off three balls into his opening over, after twisting his left ankle in his follow-through. You wondered then if the absence of a sixth bowling option would hurt them. It didn’t as Shardul bounced back from his opening over to bowl eight more, even picking up a wicket before Mahmudullah hurt his figures in his final over.

Pandya didn’t return for the rest of their innings and wasn’t needed with the bat either, but once the euphoria of the result dies down, realisation of how massive Pandya is to the balance of the team will dawn sooner.

Bangladesh set up

Bangladesh had decent batting setups with Litton Das and Tanzid of 90+ runs and then again Mahmadullah came to their middle-order rescue along with Mushfiqur Rahim.

They just barely managed that score I feel, the Indian paceman did what they usually do but it was Jadeja dn Kuldeep who slowed it down to them.

They got a really good start but was rightly stopped by Siraj and Bumrah!

Gill's 53!

Finally, Gill gets a very easy 53, that catch by Mahmadullah was a well-deserved wicket with the effort that was put in.

2

Jadeja’s bowling + catching ability

His figures of 2 for 38 may not seem blockbuster at first glance, but they played a massive role in pulling Bangladesh back from an innings that was running at breakneck speed at one point.

He takes a fantastic catch at point!

And the middle order has gotten so good that we haven’t seen Jadeja bat yet!
